PFFMA's main exhibit area is located on the Yellow Breeches Creek in the town of Boiling Springs, in southcentral Pennsylvania.  The Allenberry Resort Inn has provided us with exhibit space in Fairfield Hall, their dining and guest registration building.  Our proximity to Interstates 83 and 81 and the PA Turnpike make the Museum an easy destination.  Here is a website address for directions:  www.allenberry.com We are very pleased with this location and grateful to the Heinze family for donating space to us.

The PFFMA also has a small display in the Anglers Alcove at the James V. Brown Library in Williamsport.  The current display features information on Pennsylvania Fly Fishing in the 1700s.  We are grateful to the Susquehanna Chapter of Trout Unlimited and the Brown Library for this opportunity.

The current exhibit in the two display cases at Allenberry is entitled Birth of the Modern Fly Rod.  This exquisite display traces the beginnings of the split bamboo rod and the contributions by Pennsylvanians.  This webpage will be updated in the near future to include more information about this exhibit.  But we really encourage you to see it in person.  Take in a show and/or dinner at Allenberry while you are there!

Another display at Allenberry leads us through a PSU research project about territorial behavior of wild versus stocked trout conducted on Spruce Creek, by Dr. Bachman in the 1980s. We have also begun a display of famous flies designed in PA and their inventors.  Our goal is to eventually showcase at least 100 Pennsylvania flies. We hope you will have the opportunity to see the exhibition.

The previous exhibit in the two display cases was entitled Streams of Inspiration. With nearly 85,000 miles of stream, Pennsylvania waters have inspired many, dating back to the 1700s, on a vast array of fly fishing topics. The exhibit highlights six authors and six streams that inspired them to put pen to paper.

Caldwell Creek, John Crowe, The Book of Trout Lore, 1947
Kettle Creek, Alvin (Bus) Grove, The Lure and Lore of Fishing, 1951
Lycoming Creek, Thaddeus Up De Graff, Bodines or Camping on the Lycoming, 1879
Loyalsock Creek, Charles Lose, The Vanishing Trout, 1931
Brodhead Creek, Ernie Schwiebert, The Henryville Flyfishers, 1998
Letort Spring Run, Vince Marinaro, A Modern Dry-Fly Code, 1950

Previous to Streams of Inspiration, the exhibit was entitled Chauncy and Charlie: Gentlemen Anglers

Our goal is to increase our exhibit areas, not only in this area of Pennsylvania, but also in other areas throughout the state such as Pittsburgh, State College, the Poconos, the Philadelphia, and other areas by establishing satellite exhibits.
